    Haha, spoiled Americans ;)
Cheapest in my town, Gothenburg, Sweden, is $8,5 per gallon...

Agreed we are spoiled. Unfortunately the U.S. has a horrible infrastructure as far as public transportation and such so many people live far from their jobs and have to drive everywhere.

I remember in New Zealand paying $4 something per liter

Here where I live at the Sheetz gas stations its $3.75.

All we can do is try to live our lives as best we can. That can be done within a religion, or without.

Exactly, I agree with you, like I said, Christmas is a word to be taken by its "happy" meaning, I too celebrate Christmas as a time of peace and all that even though I'm not religious. and I agree with people being too intolerant these days about these sensitive issues.
However, I was talking about Catholicism because in my country 90% of all the population follows that particular branch of Christianity and I know first-hand how badly it is misinterpreted these days, it's an excuse for sexism, racism, homophobia, xenophobia and all the things that make me sad about the human being (in my country of course, maybe there the situation's different).
As you can see by the things that I dislike about the human race, I'm truly an anti-prejudice/discrimination person, and If you thought that I made any offensive comment to you or anybody, it was not the reason why I posted in the first time, I only thought that Mike's first comment was extremely aggressive to other people's religions, as you see, I didn't even relate to what he said but I felt the need to intervene.

    Hope that clears it up.

BTW - I cannot post in the new thread you created so.. I guess my contribution will end here :)

    How long is the line?

    10? 20? 50?

Well, I'm not very good at guessing numbers but it goes all the way around the corner now. :) We had one rather arsey guy who tried to queue jump to the front of the queue but the security swiftly dealed with him at which point he screamed that we were all sad loser geeks.

You ain't kidding. I drive by an Apple Store every morning for work, and there are always the same three Asian college - age students waiting outside 3 hours before opening. I assume they're there everyday hoping a new shipment came in overnight. I'm in the wrong line of work.

Well, every morning I try to go get iPad a bunch of white people are out there and you know some are selling them on EBay.

    Damn white people

Strangely enough, I'm doing a lot better than I was when I attended college. Having my daughter totally shook my life up.

She is your motivation, and I completely respect and congratulate you on that.

Are you saying you're happy it costs $99? You don't want to pay less, no? The more complaining and bad feedback we give Apple that this service is simply too expensive the better, and the better chance we have they will begin to pay attention to loads (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=.Mac%20too%20expensive&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) of posts/blogs/and stories on this. I feel sick when I have to tell someone how much it costs. I mean they say .Mac syncing is included! You have to pay to sync computers that you payed money for, and worse still you have to give it to the company you bought the computers from?? Give me a break! GMail is free too. iWeb provides little bandwidth, and the whole this is wrapped-up with a tiny storage package. And I don't think the solution is for Apple to give us more storage. I would prefer a cheaper price to more storage any-day. If you want moe storage then you pay $99, otherwise this should cost no more than $49 per year. At the VERY MOST!!

Well, now Apple's onto your little scheme and they'll NEVER charge less!

Seriously, though, I doubt Apple cares what people are saying on the MacRumors forum. I'd of course like them to up the storage too, and what I really want is a spam filter in the webmail. It's why I never check my .mac account anymore. Way too much spam.

I mean it would be good to have a completely loaded president so he "can" spend some of his money for the economy, which Trump says he will do.

What do you mean here, to "spend some of his money for the economy"? It's not like Trump will donate half his profits to pay down the debt of the United States. Like any other wealthy person, he's doing his best to increase wealth for himself. And it's far more likely that he'd implement policies that would help to increase his ability to accumulate wealth.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, when elected as governor of California, told the voters that since he was already rich he wouldn't be beholden to special interests and made it seem as if his wealth would give him an advantage in tackling the budget deficit that the state faced. Eight years later, the deficit remained unsolved and Arnold's accomplishments as a leader could best be described as mediocre.

The talent and ability to accumulate wealth is different from the talent and ability to govern. Please don't confuse the two. And please do look more deeply into Trump's background. He is far more of a self-promoting huckster than he is a leader of the people. Donald Trump is in the business of Donald Trump, and this is simply another opportunity to spread his brand.

They're too big to go into a pocket..., they can't be shared around like books, they'll need recharging if they're used heavily. The ipad is a lot of things, sure, but there's lots of things it isn't, too.
Can't fit in a pocket... that's an advantage for schools like the middle school I help, because they can't "walk off" with a student. We currently use carts with Mac laptops. They charge up while in the cart, then get handed out to students for a group project. If they were iPads they would take less space in a crowded classroom and boot up faster. I hope they would be as durable. They don't need to be shared like books. Each student would have one, but if two students had to share one it would be big enough for that too. And we'd save money over replacing the laptops with newer laptops as they age.

First-issue iPads would be fine for group projects that involve access to websites (without Flash) and word processing, but with suitable new applications I hope clever teachers would be able to find even more useful educational activities for their students. And I know the students would be enthusiastic about using them.

When we first started replacing chalkboards with digital whiteboards, some people thought it was a solution looking for a problem, but soon teachers found how to use the new potential to do much more than they could with an old-fashioned board. Despite the doubts of some posters above, I think schools like ours will have good uses for iPads (or their marketplace competitors) as educators experiment and innovate.

Corporation tax only taxes companies profits...

Because then everyone else will do the same and your exports will suffer. Additionally its illegal under WTO rules.

What exactly is 'illegal' under WTO rules? Tariffs in general are not

So a 17 year old can do it but a gigantic company with $50 billion lying there can't. Seems logical to me.

    Wake up Steve. Seriously.

There's quite a difference between supplying 450 kits and selling 4-5 million white phones.

well, I think computers should be affordable to the average (or
not so average - ie me) consumer. I don't know. I guess I just
mean 'the cheaper, the better', which is painfully obvious, but
I think it is the foremost problem with apple computer, and should
be tackled even before the speed gap.

But these taxes are historically for funding the construction and upkeep of the highways, not to curb gas usage or to spur efficiency.

A car that gets 60 mpg will do just as much 'damage' to a road surface as a car that get 8 mpg....but the 50mpg car will pay much, MUCH less for upkeep of that road than the other in a gas-tax based situation.

A car that is more fuel efficient also likely does less damage to the road as heavier vehicles that do the highest amount of damage as typically consume the most fuel.

I just don't see the practicality of this tax based on the difficulty in enforcing it.

Um, and how would apps written to fit the current screen size work on smaller and larger screens?

If the resolution stays the same, and it probably will, then no big deal. Even if it changes, most apps dynamically lay out their user interface and will just work. Apps already need to deal with 2 resolutions (3 if you count iPad).

The user interface guidelines for web apps recommends using the system screen size variables instead of hard coding numbers, so most web apps should just work.

A lot depends on the app, but really it shouldn't be a big deal for most apps. It would be trickier if they were pushing a micro screen format like the new Nano.

    Your welcome!

Actually you can already. I just put some 'MacRumors' text on the back to maybe steal some folders from other teams when i release the beta to the whole wide world ;).
