You could get a beta key by pre-ordering the game at Game Stop. Although at this point I would confirm before doing it since the Beta won't be lasting too much longer. When I log in it says something about it expiring June 21st. So maybe they aren't giving keys anymore. If you did it in-store it printed on your receipt. Online they were supposed to e-mail it to you within a day. From what I understand they stopped giving out keys on the 17th of May.

I knew there was a reason to sit the 2011 mbp refresh out.
Why? Soon enough there will be thunderbolt to USB 3 adapters seeing as how thunderbolt has twice the bandwidth of USB 3.0. 2011 MBP owners won't be missing out on anything should they need USB 3.0 down the road.

I've posted this before on the pic of the day thread but it is one of my favorite "contrast" shots to date.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkm_uGLGWE64nkMiS8CQFO_9ZqYllA6YIhdKr-ZEOQcuXxuWLt_ZNz19MVulpF9dkMEsdY56YwWLd0PEi6o0V0-lI9iV4RfLOAhM9RlYBeG5-h4mEosoz0trHPBgGiJD3fLcu8ab664Ls/s1000/paint1.jpg
A nice contrast of warm and cold colors. The diagonal framing is severe enough to look deliberate and works well with the surreal lighting. If you were to take another whack at it, you might consider placing an object or a person in a window or in the doorway to serve as a focal point. As it is, there isn't really one place in the frame that serves as the primary visual pay-off or subject of the image. Also, you might try an exposure that gives you some more range of tonality, since the blacks are really crushed here, and they occupy large areas of the frame.

Hhm, I still see this bug, that applying a custom design in Powerpoint does not change the font of the presentation to the font of the design-template.
Very annoying!

How much money round that table??!!
That's a lot of money in one room!:eek:
Haha, that's what I was thinking! :D Very powerful and influential people around that table. Kind of odd and surreal! They are just normal people.
He doesn't look anywhere near as bad as he did in those "genuine" photographs from a certain news organisation.
I can't seem to find those pics. Did they publish them? Do you have a link?
Notice Steve is the only guy without wine?
He is undergoing treatment for cancer.
What is so strange about him not drinking alcohol?
Actually, there are just two guys with Wine in the whole room, they all have water or something like that... (Check out the big flickr pic from the previous poster)
Yes it looks like there are other people with water but does Steve drink? I don't think he does.
Everyone is dressed up but Steve....awesome.
He did wear a tux to the oscars at least.
Ya it was weird seeing Steve in a tux or anything but his standard uniform haha! :D
I would honestly love to see his closet lol! Probably like Earnest... Nothing but black turtle necks, Levis jeans, and NewBalance sneakers haha! :p
[SIZE=1]Get better for the sake of mankind, mr jobs!
No kidding! Please Steve! :(
Good to see that's Steve is still well enough to attend such things. Still very thin mind you.
Yes, for sure!

I'm a Treo user now....
BUT, I would love an iPhone that has a "slide out" keyboard.
I worry about all this. Seems like the expectations for the iPhone are getting a bit out of hand. I'm thinking many people are going to be disappointed with a version 1.0 product.
What it will most likely do:
- Be a cell phone
- Be a great music player like iPod
What it *may* do:
- Be a great calendar client for iCal
- Support e-mail
- Have a web browser.
------
There's the rub, they are now competing with every hi-end phone out there. Apple is basically making their own "Phone OS" from the ground up. What web technology would they use? Is this too ambitious for a release 1 product? If they try this great, I just hope it is good. They are suddenly going to have competition from Windows Mobile, Nokia, Treo, Blackberry, and the whole Motorola line.
Let's remember with iPod, when it came out there were just some pretty lame competitors. The cell phone market is much more mature.
Good Luck Apple!

The good news is that Apple's iPhone OS won't be the dominating mobile platform for much longer. The sales numbers show that Android is quickly gaining momentum, and Google's marketplace is not censored at all and developers can choose whatever development tool they want to produce software for Android.
Just because they went from 2.5% to 5.2% in the US means nothing. Apple is at 25%. It is a lot harder to get into the higher market. All that they've been showing is that they can take some of Palm and WM6 marketshare.
http://www.tipb.com/images/stories/2010/02/marketshare-comscore-400x282.png
Apple will soon fall back into that little niche where they came from. And they deserve it because of their megalomaniac behavior and arrogant attitude.
History is going to repeat itself because Apple hasn't learned from their mistakes in the past. They lost the desktop to Microsoft because Apple refused to open their platform to third parties. Now they will lose the mobile market to Google.
Do you mean history will repeat itself like the Mac/PC wars or like the iPod? Maybe I'm missing something when you say "They lost the desktop to Microsoft because Apple refused to open their platform to third parties" because what comes to my mind is ActiveX and DirectX.
The WePad is going to ship in July. Even if it might not be as sexy as the over-hyped iPad, it is an OPEN device. And in the end, the open platform will win.
You do realize that no one is really mentioning the WePad (lol) except pretty much Germany. Go look at the current success of the iPad. If you think you can just blow up Android apps and it will be just like the iPad you're fooling yourself.
As for your Android is "OPEN" comment, I don't think you know what "open" actually means.
Is Android Evil? (http://www.visionmobile.com/blog/2010/04/is-android-evil/)
1. Private branches. There are multiple, private codelines available to selected partners (typically the OEM working on an Android project) on a need-to-know basis only.
2. Closed review process. All code reviewers work for Google, meaning that Google is the only authority that can accept or reject a code submission from the community.
3. Speed of evolution. Google innovates the Android platform at a speed thats unprecedented for the mobile industry, releasing 4 major updates (1.6 to 2.1) in 18 months. OEMs wanting to build on Android have no choice but to stay close to Google so as not to lose on new features/bug fixes released.
4. Incomplete software. The public SDK is by no means sufficient to build a handset. Key building blocks missing are radio integration, international language packs, operator packs and of course Googles closed source apps like Market, Gmail and GTalk.
5. Gated developer community. Android Market is the exclusive distribution and discovery channel for the 40,000+ apps created by developers; and is available to phone manufacturers on separate agreement.
6. Anti-fragmentation agreement. Little is known about the anti-fragmentation agreement signed by OHA members but we understand its a commitment to not release handsets which are not CTS compliant.
7. Private roadmap. The visibility offered into Androids roadmap is pathetic. At the time of writing, the roadmap published publicly is a year out of date (Q1 2009). To get a sneak peak into the private roadmap you need Googles blessing.
8. Android trademark. Google holds the trademark to the Android name; as a manufacturer you can only leverage on the Android branding with approval from Google.
On a more personal note: I do not need and I do not want Apple to tell me what I can read or see on my device. If I want to see naked flesh, then it's none of Apple's business and they have ZERO rights to deny me that. (I'm European - we're not prude here and we prefer sex over violence.) If I want to use software that directly competes with Apple's own offers, then obviously their competition is giving me something that I like better than Apple's software products.
As much as I like Apple's computers, I hate their entire AppStore and iPhone SDK policies with a passion.
What you want is a bigger walled garden. You are primarily to only use Google services on Android. I don't like the App Store policies but to simply put out that with Android "is all about choice" is naive. To use half the apps in the Android marketplace your phone has to be rooted (jailbroken).
Ultimately I'd like for Apple to allow third party apps to be downloaded outside of the App Store and can understand why Jobs doesn't want to offer questionable apps on iTunes.

Can you turn off the 3D and play the games in 2D?
How does it play the DS games?
Looking forward to seeing one over the weekend.
Yep but the benefit of 3D is it masks alot of the games Jaggies, without it on you will notice how Jaggy everything truly looks.
DS games run grand albeit with black borders on each side on top screen.

can you please explain to me (or provide a link where it's explained) the benefits of using a 30 pin connector in comparison to a usb port? is it maybe so that apple can sell more adaptors? (i'm not sarcastic on this one, i'd really like to know)
There is an advantage to the user and to Apple.
The advantage to Apple is that they OWN the connector and will or won't grant other companies the right to include that connector into their products. So you'll never see a Microsoft or Android phone sporting Apple's connector.
The user can drop their iDevice into a bedside radio/clock or into a slot in their car dash and have their iDevice automatically integrated into that appliance or vehicle.
This means when you set an alarm on your iDevice, your bedside radio knows it and wakes you with music or alert through the larger radio speakers. Your iPhone GPS can become part of your car's navigation system, while your iPhone can become also become a hand's free phone using your car's sound system. Plus, you still have all your alarms, Address Book, and calendar available to you via voice command.
Life is good for you, and in Appleland prosperity reigns. :)

to be on topic:
If you're set on a mac-usin'-momma, is there a Mac User group you could meet some Mac-using ladies at? We're a fun bunch (if I may say so myself.)
Other than that, I dunno.. go to starbucks or something to meet people? A singles mixer? *shrug*
I wasn't just looking for advice on dating in general (although I'll take it, don't get me wrong :) ), I was looking for advice on this particular girl. I have dated all pc users in the past, but at the time I was a pc user as well, so I cannot comment as to the heart and intellect of Mac using women vs. their pc counterparts. I often study, as often as I study :p, at Borders (similar to Barnes and Noble if you don't have them) and that usually does well for finding one or two Mac using 'momma's', however usually they are cramming for something, not exactly my setting for walking up and asking them to chat.
I realize there are a plethora of women around, especially where I am from they are quite kind to the eyes and their father's wallets seem rather bulged, however....well nevermind, I really have no valid excuses. I am just single until I amass enough funds to purchase many hot women, since that always seems to work

Omg with no laptop updates, I'd like to watch as Apple's laptop sales tumble. Already the Apple Store dropped their MacBook shipping days down to 3-5 days (nobody wants it).
Having visited my local Apple Store several times over the last two weeks (my PowerBook G4 was in for warranty repairs), I can safely say that I saw more MacBooks selling than any other computer... easily two MacBooks for every iMac that sold.
This is no surprise when you consider the price/performance ratio and the overall market shift toward mobile computing (not to mention back-to-school season).
If anything, I'd say it's a safe bet that Apple may be having trouble keeping up with demand.

I got a Nexus One on T-Mobile. My bill with 500 minutes (free nights and weekends) unlimited text, data plus taxes and fees comes to $65. Compare this to an AT&T plan and you pay more for just phone (less minutes). I would switch to the iPhone as soon I as can have it on my plan.

There's already a thread on this. Just as I did in that one, I think it's incredibly sad. The irony in what the RATM croud are trying to achieve is particularly amusing.
Not half as sad as the machine of mediocrity that is Simon Bloody Cowell's monopoly on our christmas number ones.
So the frig what if a bunch of people want to feel like they've accomplished a small victory by bumping that rubbish off the top spot? It's harmless fun.

Their renewed partnership is because there used to be a DirecTivo (which was a dvr separate from the other boxes) that was launched back in 1999 and went through a series of upgrades until 2007.
Their current software found in their boxes is done in house, I know a few people who test it.

Wake up Apple.
I'm pretty sure Apple is well aware of how royally ATT is screwing things up. The only questions are: 1) when does ATT's exclusivity actually end, and 2) which other carriers will Apple partner with.
